Betty Confidential (May 2009)

You’ve probably seen these three talented New Moon actors outside of the vampire and werewolf zone — 24-year-old Kellan Lutz (who plays Robert Pattinson’s vampire brother, Emmett Cullen) was previously known as one of those scantily clad Abercrombie & Fitch models, while 22-year-old Nikki Reed (who plays his partner, Rosalie Hale) was acclaimed for Lords of Dogtown, Mini’s First Time and Thirteen (which she co-wrote the screenplay for back in 2003) and 24-year-old Midland, Texas, boy Jackson Rathbone (Jasper Hale) is a former Disney Channel 411 star who just played a Norwegian heavy metal murderer in Lord of Chaos.

These Hollywood young guns gave BettyConfidential the inside scoop on the New Moon “bootie” shots, Jackson’s Twitter imposter and Taylor Lautner’s shirtless scenes.

BettyConfidential: Hello everyone. Nice to talk to you all. I am dying to ask some general questions about New Moon. The first one is about the camaraderie between the cast members. I have spoken to some of your fellow actors and they say that you are like one big family. I know you’re all around the same age, but what do you think the real reason is?

Kellan: Well, I really think that Catherine [Hardwicke, the director of Twilight] did an amazing job with casting people who are similar to their characters and talented, but really, what it comes down to is that we are all really down-to-earth and have a great head on our shoulders. So it is really nice for all of us to stay humble and not get ego-tripped with everything that comes with the success of Twilight and the fans who have shown so much love and support. We are just a great group of actors and we’re real and it is great to have that camaraderie and hang out on and off set in Vancouver, LA or Portland. It is a really close-knit family.

RadarOnline Interview (May 2009)

In an exclusive interview with, Twilight cutie Jackson Rathbone opened up on everything from his love of Vanilla Ice to which of his co-stars can bench-press the most weight. And he also shared a super-cute family photo, taken when he was just a tot!

RadarOnline: Your character in Twilight, Jasper, is so withdrawn and cold. Do you think fans are a little hesitant to approach you in public? Especially compared with some of your castmates?

Jackson Rathbone: People rarely recognize me, which is actually pretty sweet. I try to change my look in every role I take on: clothing, hairstyle, walk, facial expression, and the way I speak. Sometimes it’s subtle and sometimes it’s not, but as I am not a blonde in real life, people often do the double look before approaching me.

Jackson Rathbone Talks New Moon (June 2009) recently had a chance to talk to actor Jackson Rathbone, who has already finished shooting his return as Jasper Cullen in New Moon, the sequel to last year’s mega-hit Twilight.

Before trying to get more details about the sequel, we asked Rathbone to talk about the experience of making the first film before things got so crazy. “The first film, it was one of Summit’s first films. I think it was actually the second film they produced, the first being ‘Never Back Down.’ It felt like a bigger budget indie film. We were all kind of making this movie together, and the way Catherine Hardwicke directs, it’s really a fun vibe that was on set. It was a little stressful because as we kept filming, the press kept getting more of it and the fans kept being more into it. All these websites started popping up, and all these things. It was amazing. It was like, ‘Oh, wow, this is going to be something else!’ We started making this movie and people are already loving it and it’s not even out yet. It has six months to come out and they’re already lining up in the movie theaters. That was an experience in and of itself. I wasn’t really prepared for it, but I was really thankful for it, because they’re so supportive of what we do. As an actor, you need an audience.”

Starshine Magazine Interview (July 2009)

Categorized on their MySpace page as a combination of “Japanese classic music, 2-step, psychobilly” which may be good enough or equally perplexing descriptors as any, the 100 Monkeys are currently touring throughout the summer with their debut CD Monster De Lux.

Just listen for the shouted deluge of audience improv suggestions or follow the trail of over-excited, collapsed Twi-hards, and you’ll be sure to find them.

Meanwhile, StarShine caged the jovial, bantering Monkeys (sans Ben J.) for an exclusive interview in which they discuss stage life, Twilight mania, obscure global theorems, and humpback whales.

What’s the origin of the 100 Monkeys?

Jackson: The 100 Monkeys started with Ben G. and I–like 3 years ago–whenever he moved to L.A. We were roommates back in high school. We knew Ben J. back then, and we started the band as a two-man group just doing improv music and trying to get Ben J. out to Los Angeles to make some music with us. Along the way, we happened to meet up with Jared Anderson who we would jam with all the time. Now we all are together in harmony. It’s fantastic.

Ben G: It’s like an MTV reality show.

Tu Magazine Set Interview

This saga has knocked off major franchises from the top; it seems there’s nothing more than New Moon now. How do you feel about Twilight’s success covering the entire world?

Kellan: It’s very rewarding to have this many fans, who have given us all their support. As actors we try to give them our best.

Nikki: I think Kellan just answered for all of us. Twilight has been a huge success that we were not expecting. we’re very grateful.

Jackson, as Jasper, do you feel passion for the role you play in this movie? The fans know the books very well and can’t wait to see your work.

Jackson: Twilight fans are very devoted, they notice every little detail about the characters in the books, and they’re very aware of what’s going on during filming, which is amazing.

Glamour Magazine UK Interview (December 2009)

Do men and women ever want the same thing? We asked the cast of this month’s blockbuster, New Moon, to spill the beans on love, sex and relationships.

We’ve spent months anticipating New Moon, the next installment in the Twilight saga, the hit vampire franchise that’s taken the world by storm. While Bella may have fallen for brooding Edward, it’s his gorgeous, gifted vampire siblings that we’re loving. GLAMOUR jetted to Vancouver to catch up with Ashley Greene, 22, who plays future-seeing Alice Cullen, Jackson Rathbone, 24, who plays her boyfriend Jasper Hale, Nikki Reed, 21, the sassy Rosalie Hale and delicious jock Kellan Lutz, 23, who plays Emmett Cullen. Sink your teeth into this!

How do you differentiate between love and lust?
KELLAN: The first six months are always exciting, but then things can get boring. So if that lustful feeling never really goes, then you know it’s real.
ASHLEY: When things that used to annoy you turn into things you adore about somebody, you know something has changed.
NIKKI: We over-use the word “love”: “I love tacos, I love shoes.” We “love” a lot of things, but don’t “lust” a lot of things. I’m in a movie revolving around this obsession with love, and I think people should find more of an obsession with lust.
JACKSON: Lust tastes like tequila and love tastes like whiskey. Love burns for longer and warms you up on the inside and sometimes it makes you do stupid things. Tequila makes you wasted. You can get wasted on lust and warmed by love.

Body hair: discuss…
KELLAN: I do have chest hair and if I’m doing some young teeny magazine it’s nice to look young, so I shave it off. But I’ve never waxed, I wouldn’t go there.
NIKKI: I’m a massive fan of body hair – if men shave any part of their body I’m completely turned off.
JACKSON: I wish I could have more stubble. For New Moon I have to shave every day and I’d rather let it grow, live in the mountains somewhere and shave with an axe!
ASHLEY: Facial hair on a guy looks great but it hurts when you kiss. A little chest hair is manly, but I’m not one for the back hair!

New Moon On-Set Secrets (December 2009)

Which of the New Moon cast would you choose to help in fight?
Nikki: Jackson
Kellan: None. I wouldn’t need the help in a fight!
Ashley: Kellan
Jackson: Nikki

Which member of the cast would you get to style you?
Nikki: Kellan
Kellan: Alex Meraz, who plays one of the werewolves, has good style.
Ashley: Rachelle Lefevre, although Kristen and I have the same taste in jeans
Jackson: Ashley

Who in the cast would you go to for relationship advice?
Kellan: Ashley Greene. We’re very close and it’s great to have someone especially as you work with them, just to talk to for advice.
Nikki: Elizabeth Reaser. She has a good head on her shoulders
Ashley: I ask Kellan a lot about guys because he’s honest with me and she’s new but Bryce Dallas Howard is really nurturing and kind of motherly.
Jackson: Peter Facinelli. He’s got a wife, kids, beautiful home. That’s gorgeous. Someday hopefully, I’m taking tips from him.

Blast Magazine Interview (November 2009)

Is it intimidating playing a character that’s already loved by so many people?
It is intimidating. It also adds a lot of fun to it. There’s so much out there that fans have done with fan fiction, a lot of their abilities with photoshop. It’s incredible the amount of stuff they’ve put out there. For me, and I know a lot of the other castmates as well have read up on our characters and have read these fan fiction pieces. Pretty much everything they feel about these characters we feel about them now as well. I really appreciate it.

What do you like best about playing Jasper?
Jasper is very conservative in a lot of ways, in terms of how he projects himself around humans, because he’s not comfortable around humans yet. It’s a lot of fun to play someone on the verge of breaking because you have to hold back and it’s interesting because there’s always something going on with Jasper. He’s trying to become a good vampire. He’s at a place where most of the other vampires, in terms of the Cullen family, have already gone through it and he’s kind of that weird missing link between James and Dr. Cullen, I feel.
