Viper Room Videos & Review By Crystal!

Here’s Crystal review from the Viper Room shows! Her videos can also be seen below. Enjoy!

I attended the 100 monkeys show on Aug 6th at the viper room. It was a good show 100 monkeys played with The Absolute and The kissing Circle. The Viper room was sold out so it was really packed and hot in there. As you can see from some of the pictures I took of Jackson and Ben G and they were all sweaty.

All in all the 100 Monkeys put on a good show they were full of energy and having fun on stage. They also decorated the stage with streamers and balloons. This in return made us have a good time with them and forget that we were in a room that was hot and we were standing for 4 or 5 or more. Another thing I like about 100 Monkeys besides they music, is that no matter how many times you see them its never the same experience. It keeps getting better and better each time you see them. I like how they get the fans involved and help pick out their improve song, which that night was called drunk dialing.

Quick Review & Photos from the Great American Music Hall Show

Here’s a quick review I wrote up from Sunday’s show.

I recently attended the 100 Monkeys show at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, CA. The turnout, audience wise, for the show was pretty damn impressive.

The show was quite possibly one of the best I’ve been to. The Kissing Club got the ball rolling with a few of his songs, which were wonderful. And when it came time for the band to get on stage? The screams were deafening. You could tell people were ready for some Monkey tunes to begin.

Because I have a pretty horrible memory when it comes to the order in which songs are played, I’ll just… list them for you guys. At the top of my head, the songs I remember being played were: Looker, Sleeping Giants, Invisible Monsters, Black Diamond (new fave!),  Kolpix, The Monkey Song, Orson Brawl, Poison Oak, Wandering Minds, Arizona, Ugly Girl and Clippity Clop. I’m probably missing a few, but that was pretty much the gist of that show’s set. And the improv of the night was Duckbill Platypus.

During the last song of the night, the boys brought out a special guest. Uncle Larry’s very own brother! I was unable to record this song for some reason, but it was AMAZING. If anyone was able to record this, let me know!

I only managed to record 2 videos from the show. You can see them below.

And finally, here’s a few photos I took from the show as well. Enjoy!

100 Monkeys @ House Of Blues Review By Taylor!

Thanks so much to Taylor for taking the time to write up her review from the recent 100 Monkeys show at the House Of Blues in San Diego!

I noticed that no one put a review so I thought hey why not! Well first off I had to wait outside for about an hour to get in, cause the House of Blues was at full capacity! But it wasn’t all boring outside, I could see them taking the interview from across the street from Channel 6 in San Diego, and then out of no where Kellan Lutz is running across the street! I mean that doesn’t just happen! haha. But 100 Monkeys walked right by the line, I would have said something but I was a little starstuck..again haha. When they started I was still outside, but the way the House of Blues is set up you can see the stage from outside, so me and some girls I met in the line were outside holding up signs and screaming! Then they took the intermission, finally we got a table inside! I got as close as I took, I was practically standing on a chair.

Photos & quick review from the Martini Ranch show by Amanda!

Thanks so much to the lovely Amanda, she sent in her photos from the Martini Ranch show. Check them out in the gallery and read about her experience from the show below!

I saw them the other night! They were amazing! They were all so sweet! I even had a friend that was going to come with me, but had an emergency surgery so she could not go, so they signed a CD for her personally. (Addressed it to her) I love them all and my sister who came with me is now a new fan. Cant wait til they come back…

The Roxy show photos, review & videos

First off, thanks so much to Karen for sharing her own photos from the show! They have been added to the gallery along with my own. Here’s a short, quick review of the show.

I attended the Roxy show on Friday, making it my fifth 100 Monkeys show. Most of the night was spent eagerly waiting for the monkeys to get on stage. The opening bands kept the crowd energized while waiting. Kingsley kicked ass!

Once the band finally got on stage, they opened it up with the classic, Wings On Fire. They performed Reaper, Wasteland Too, Kold Pix, Ugly Girl and many more including a few new songs like Wandering Minds and Funky. All in all, the show itself was pretty great and you could tell the guys were excited to be back home playing on their own turf.

Also, the lovely Jake Miller played a little set during the band’s intermission.

A small little tidbit, Christopher Mintz-Plasse (aka McLovin’ to most of you) was also in attendance at this show.

OutLoud NewsGazine 100 Monkeys Article

Thanks to Leah from OUTLOUD Newsgazine for sending me a link to her 100 Monkeys article/review from the Social show in Orlando, FL.

For months I had been debating on flying to California or even Canada (considering that is where they usually play) to watch 100 Monkeys live, but after months of Twittering that the Monkeys needed to add some Florida dates to their 100 City Tour, my prayers were answered!

Orlando was my destination on March 30. Instead of being the studious college student that I am, I skipped classes and endured a five hour drive with my best friend, David. Arriving in Orlando we met up with my childhood friend, Laura, at the Millennium Mall, where I was in need of a new outfit for the show. We finally arrived at the venue a little later than expected, due to my last-minute fashion crisis. Outside The Social was a line of fans, embellished in Twilight attire, waiting impatiently for the doors to open. When the doors opened and the fans came pouring into the venue, Laura and I succeeded in pushing and shoving our way through, trying to reach the front of the stage, while David hung out at the bar.

Jackson Rathbone barrels over Allentown with 100 Monkeys

The Morning Call has a review up from the Croc Rock show on their site. You can read some of it below and the rest at their site.

The secret to the success of a 100 Monkeys concert is that the band treats it exactly for what it is: A musical outlet for a hot actor (Jackson Rathbone of “Twilight”) and a few of his actor friends, who happen to also be decent musicians.

There’s no pretense that they are a chart-topping act. They play smaller venues such as Allentown’s Crocodile Rock Café, where they were Thursday night, and charge a pittance of $10 to get in.

They jam in an often unstructured way, with several songs starting in lurches and coming to awkward endings.

Since their songs are so little known – sold only from their Web site or digitally – that there wasn’t much need to build tension in the set or even set up an encore: 70 minutes and 13 songs into the night, they simply announced, “We’re going to take a quick break,” and left the stage for 15 minutes before returning for another half hour of music.

Photos From The Revolution Music Room!

Thanks to both Sydney and Bonnie Keith for sending in their stunning photos from the show at the Revolution Music Room in Little Rock, AK! You can check all of it out in the gallery. Here’s what Sydney had to say about the show.

The show was amazing not a large crowd but still very fun. The opening act was amazing. It was a Jake Miller who played by himself and did a wonderful job and had help from J. Rad and Ben J. After about 30 minutes the guys started out with Wing on Fire and then continued on with Junkie, Keep Awake, Devil Man, and a bunch others. The improv song was amazing as well. They chose the suggestion ‘spandex’ it was very fun. At the end Jackson said it was the first “rap” version they had ever done. At the end of the show the venue began to clear out slowly. My self and about 4 other girls went to the door we knew they would becoming out of. We wait for about 30 minutes until Ben G. came out and told us “We don’t like to do ‘meet & greets’ until after the van is loaded and we still haven’t finished because almost all of us are sick. So there probably won’t be one tonight.” Ben G. hugged all of us standing outside before going back inside. Yes it was a little disappointing but the concert was still amazing.

Thank you ladies!

100 Monkeys Santa Cruz & San Luis Obispo Review

This is so long overdue… anyway, here’s my short review from the San Luis Obispo and Santa Cruz shows back in January.

I attended the Santa Cruz (on January 21st) and the San Luis Obispo shows (on January 22nd). Both were amazing and no two were alike. Then again, you always get something different out of a monkey show. The show in Santa Cruz had a much, much smaller crowd than the one in San Luis.  However,  it made things a bit more intimate with the band. And Ben G was pleasantly pleased to know he could see everyone’s face in the crowd. It was also pretty nice to see a huge turnout for the guys at the San Luis Obispo show as well.

Because there wasn’t an opening band at the SC show, the guys opened the show up themselves. Jackson introduced them as “The Mustaches” and proceeded into a song made up on the spot.  In San Luis, we surprisingly ran into Ben J and Jackson out by the back door taking a quick break. My sister and I arrived pretty late to the show so we thought we missed their set. Thankfully, Ben J informed us they hadn’t gone on yet, which was a huge relief! Inside, we managed to catch Monster Eats Pilot‘s last two songs of the night. Great band, but a total shame we didn’t catch their entire set!

The show itself was pretty enjoyable. Marty got the crowed enthused a couple of times and, obviously, danced around with almost everyone in the venue while the guys played their songs. The same could be said about the SC show too.

I can’t exactly remember the order the songs were played in during each show. I do know they played the following: Junkie, .38 Special, Reaper, Clippity Clop, LDF (something they hadn’t played in over a month!), Keep Awake, Smoke, Ugly Girl, Prayre, Shywater, The Monkey Song, Sleeping Giants, Looker Kold Pix and a new bluesy song sung by Ben Gl. As for improvs, Banana Slug was at the first while Parking Ticket at the second. And of course, the Thank You song was played before their 10 minute intermission during each show. One memorable moment from one of the shows was when Ben G decided to hop off stage to dance with the crowd during The Monkey Song. Another, memorable moment was during the new bluesy song Ben G sings. During the performance of this song (at the SC show), Ben pretty much laid himself out on the floor during a portion of the song.

Having seen these guys perform almost a year ago, it was a nice surprise to see how far they’ve grown musically and still be one of the nicest group of guys around. If they ever swing into your city (or state!!), definitely check them out. They won’t disappoint you.

My photos from the shows have been up in the gallery for awhile now, but I’ve never really actually posted the link to them. So here they are!

And thanks to Tayrn, you can check out her review from the Tattoo Parlour show at her blog/site. Here’s a snippet.

March 14, 2010 was the first time I’d ever stepped foot into The Tattoo Rock Parlour on Queen St. West in Toronto. The lighting was low, the music was loud and the crowd was just right. There were no mosh pits, no dirty drugs, and no crazy fans trying to push to get to the front. The overall vibe was cool, laid back and the excitement was through the roof. Every single person in the room was waiting for 100 Monkeys. The band that hails all the way from L.A., who I’m fairly sure hasn’t had any Toronto or Canadian (besides Vancouver) dates since their creation, were the one thing they were all waiting for. The anticipation was high.

And you could feel it.
