Set in Arizona, HURT follows the Coltrane family as they grapple with the untimely death of the father, Robert. Forced to abandon their privileged lifestyle, Helen Coltrane and her teenage children Conrad and Lenore are given shelter by her husband’s reclusive brother Darryl in his ramshackle home in the desert. As the family reluctantly settles in, a fresh challenge is presented by the arrival of Sarah, a lovely yet troubled foster child whom Robert had pledged to take in. The family’s grief turns to dread as a series of tragic, inexplicable incidents befall them.
Jackson portrays Conrad Coltrane.
• A truly international crew is behind ‘Hurt’: Producers Eduardo Levy and James Martin are from Brazil and Canada, respectively. Director Barbara Stepansky is from Poland, Cinematographer Ralph Kaechele from Germany, Editor Rita DaSilva from Portugal, and Line Producer Nikolette Orlandou from Greece. And the actress Sofia Vassilieva (Sarah) is a first generation American of a Russian origin. Also adding American flavor, are Co-Writer Alison Lea Bingeman and Production Designer Scott Enge.
• On set, the sticky blood used on Jackson congealed to his hairy legs and the costume designer, Michele, helped trying to cut him free. They ended up having to go with the band-aid method.
