With the final film in the “Twilight Saga” franchise arriving this November, fans are no doubt ready to sink their fangs into the latest details on the Cullen coven and how the blockbuster series—based on the bestselling vampire novels by author Stephenie Meyer—will end.
It was recently revealed this week that there will be a new twist ending described as ‘fitting’ for the last “Breaking Dawn” movie adaptation. While little is known about the changes at this point, “Cinema Blend” reported this Friday morning that any changes to the new ending is reported by the studio to create a more satisfying conclusion for Twi-hards and moviegoers alike.
During “Entertainment Weekly’s” Fall Movie Preview edition this August as well, a couple new photos of the lead cast stars of the “Twilight” movies were also revealed—and may very well be shots taken from that twist new ending the movie studio and author described.
Courtesy of “Cinema Blend” this week (along with some other fan favorite “Twilight” photos in the slideshow), the photos focus on the three main members of the new Cullen family—Edward, Bella, and daughter Renesmee.
The cover of the “Entertainment Weekly” issue shows a happy and close shot of the recently wed vampire couple, another photo of Bella sharing a special moment with young Renesmee, while the third picture shows an unsmiling Cullen coven that seems to be facing some unseen danger (and may be a clip from the newly changed epilogue).
The “Entertainment Weekly” article also offers some novel details on the new ending for the “Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2” movie. Spoiler Warning: Please be aware that some of these details may give away how the last of the “Twilight” movies may end.
The original “Breaking Dawn” novel ends with a happy conclusion that tied up many of the loose ends from the book. While the Cullen’s confrontation with the Volturi and the eventual ending turns out positive for the vampires fans have come to love and know, the ending may be seen as difficult to adapt to the big screen.
For example, would the ending still consist of the main cast discussing Renesmee as an “immortal child” and whether she may pose a danger to the vampires’ secrecy, as well as how Bella’s “mind shield” would translate to the film version?
While the new ending remains mostly a mystery for now, actor Robert Pattinson did call the changed script “surprising,” and “Twilight Saga” author Stephenie Meyer herself was reported to be instrumental in the new ending. Pattinson reported, “The [new ending] does it serious justice… though when I first read the script… I had to go back a page.”
This new ending may definitely be seen as a shock to some fans, but many (as well as this writer) may be interested in seeing how the changing story (again, approved by Meyer, so nothing that she would not consider for her characters or plotline) is to be altered in the last of the “Twilight” movies.
A big question that remains to be seen is whether “Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2” will have an ending that is simply made to seem more entertaining or fulfilling for fans, or perhaps opens the door for a new movie to continue the epic franchise in the future.
Some Twi-hards might love to see the movies continue, while others may want to see the series end here and now on a similar note that follows the original novels. Would you fans want to see the “Twilight Saga” possibly continue (with a potential new cast), or should it end with “Breaking Dawn” after its immense pop culture and financial success?
“Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2” will hit U.S. theaters this November 16.
