You can read about the fundraising details over at MyWestTexas. The article includes some interview snippets with Jackson. You can read what he had to say below.
Rathbone, 27, plays a cowboy named Justin Wood, who causes a rift within the group by trying to woo one of the girls.”It’s a fun character, and I’ve not been able to play a cowboy yet. I get to use my roots, so to speak,” he said.
The film also stars Academy Award nominee James Cromwell.
Rathbone said it’s hard to get a good family film and that when he found this script, he jumped at the chance to be a part of it.
He’s excited to be able to bring it to Midland where he knows there is a great sense of family and community.
“Midland’s my hometown. I’ve never really been able to bring a family film to Midland before,” Rathbone said.
He said his parents attended a screening at the Dallas Film Festival earlier this year and enjoyed it. He said one of the reasons he agreed to do the movie was because it spoke to him and his family’s values.
“I thought, ‘My folks are really going to love it,’ and I was right,” he said.
His dad, Jack, will give a short introduction before the movie that the younger Rathbone hopes Midlanders will enjoy.
“Midland has an amazing community,” he said. “When the whole community steps up, they really do amazing work. And since it ties in a little bit with the fundraiser, I think it’s quite beautiful.”
I love that he gives interviews to the hometown paper.
When I first learned about this, I did not realize it was a fundraiser. I think that is really great! I bought a ticket and now because of work, I cannot go. Hope everyone enjoys the screening.
