Yep, another one! Sophie graciously sent in her photos and wrote up a little review from her experience at the Tattoo Rock Parlour show which took place last night! You can read what she wrote below and check out her awesome pictures in the gallery! Thanks, Sophie!
Basically my friend Char and I got there around 3, shopped and went to the venue at about 6:15, doors opened around 6:45 and we still got front and center surprisingly. First two bands played, and then 100 Monkeys came out. They sang Ugly Girl, Wing on Fire, Looker, The Monkey Song..and I forget the rest. But when they were asking for a word to use to sing about, they picked mine aha! That was nice, it was dental floss lol. We recorded it but my audio is so crap, I’m sure someone will post it soon. So yeah then after they finished the venue started kicking people out, we went outside to wait for the band by this other door. It was four of us waiting, then this nice girl who was part of like the crew came out and said she saw Jackson inside. She said she asked him for a picture; her words: “Jackson I know you’re really busy but can I get a picture?” then he said “you’re right, I am really busy,” and walked away. Now this is what she told us but like..ouch lol. Then after they came out but had zero time for pictures or autographs, Jared said bye and Ben G said sorry and thanks for coming, but yeah they like ran out and zoomed away, kinda sad. There was no merch because apparently they couldn’t bring it over the border, silly Canada lol. But it was a really good and fun show

Scooby Lady said:@ ell_ess, Jackson has the right to say no to signing autographs or taking pictures with fans if he wants too, especially if he is busy or tired. You can’t totally expect him to be available to sign autographs and take pics with fans everytime at every show. He didn’t exactly sign autographs or take pics with fans at the San Antonio show on January 9th when I saw the Monkeys perform at the White Rabbit, and not everyone complained or made Jackson look like a bad guy or big jerk for not signing autographs or taking pics with fans.
From what I had heard, security at the Tattoo Parlour was hurrying people out of the venue so, the boys had no time to sign pics or take pics with fans. I’m sure Jackson had no intention of appearing rude or making fans feel bad if he didn’t take pics with them, cause I know if he took one pic with a fan, then everyone else will want one too. So please, don’t feel like you were the few people who were unlucky enough not be able to take pics with him.

Mary Cate said:I was at the show at the Tattoo Rock Parlour last night as well. And I was at the back door while they were loading their gear into their trailer. When Jackson came out, I said hi to him and he said “howdy” back. He wasn’t nasty or anything. None of them were. I’m pretty sure it was the security at the club that was pushing them out. They were pretty strict about how long the guys could stay on stage as well. It wasn’t the greatest club to play in. It was really small and they were practically tripping over each other on stage. They’ve been travelling alot and were probably tired and honestly did not have time to stop for pictures or sign autographs. I, for one, really enjoyed the show. I would have liked a picture with Jackson as much as anyone but I understand that it’s now always possible and I certainly don’t expect it. I stand behind Jackson and the 100 Monkeys no matter what.

June said:Yeah. Those damn guards were really pushing everyone out. It was sad. I didn’t find any of them rude at all. Jackson smirked and said Howdy to me before running off.. I think it was they had to get their stuff and get out. Like Mary Cate said, it was really strict.
Hopefully the next time around, they play at a better place.

Sophie said:I hope I didnt make it seem like I was pissed off at them, I was just saying what happened! Someone said they had an early start tomorrow, so thats probably also why they rushed out, I’m sure theyll come back to Toronto again

Mary Cate said:Hey Sophie, sorry, I didn’t mean to imply you were pissed off at them. I’m sure you were disappointed, just like me. I only said what I did because I know for a fact that some of the people who were there last night were pissed off at them. I was standing right there when they took off and I heard quite a few not-so-nice comments. I just don’t want people hating on them just because they couldn’t stay. Like June said, hopefully next time they will be at a better venue. I really wasn’t impressed with the club at all. I had a 19+ wrist band and the security guard didn’t even give me the option of staying. He just told me and my boyfriend to clear out.

Jens said:I’m glad they played in ABQ in the beginning of their tour, because it sounds like they are getting pretty worn out…UNDERSTANDABLY! A 100 City Tour is quite an endeavor. I would be exhausted as well. Even after a vacation it is always nice to be in your own bed, and these guys are constantly on the road with little rest. So I say, “kudoes!” to them for being able to keep the energy up on stage, and put on great shows night after night.
I’m sure Jackson would never purposely be rude to his fans. He is always so appreciative to have a fanbase…as are all of the monkeys. So lets just hope they get plenty of rest, and don’t wear themselves out too much.
I have noticed that Jackson is not as smiley as usual. Poor guy! Hope he finds his beautiful smile again soon.March 16th, 2010
June said:He smiled a bit during the show. I captured one of his smiles.. but yeah, he didnt look so smiley compared to other show pictures I’ve seen. These guys need some rest! lol

Scooby Lady said:Jackson smiled a lot at the San Antonio show back in January. Perhaps he wasn’t smiling a lot cause of the venue’s management and their strict rules, though long traveling & little rest could be a factor too.

Jgirl said:He smiled plenty onstage during the Madison and Chicago shows, just a week and a half ago. I got several beautiful shots of him smiling. Perhaps he just wasn’t feeling well or yeah, something could have been going on that you don’t about. Those shows he was smiling but still wasn’t able to stick around to meet fans. It just depends on the situation I’m sure, nobody should take it personally.

wow said:Hey guys, I just wanted to share that I had a similar situation last night in DC. Now, let me preface this by saying I have never read a single twilight book or seen any of the movies. One of my friends drove pretty far to see him, and I asked him if he would take a picture with her. (she really wanted one, and I could not fail as a friend!) So we were in the back of the club (I played in an opening band), and I had my friend nearby. I said “hey man, one of my friends is a big fan and would really like a picture with you.” His response, “Well can I at least get dressed first?” I was very confused, he was dressed, and smoking a cig. I said “You need to get dressed?” and then I proceeded to call my friend over and he obliged the picture. So I thought, ok maybe he’s not so bad afterall. My friend was happy, and I felt like I didn’t fail. As I was leaving, the boys in the band had gone inside to sign autographs and sell their merch. I went out the front door, and had a conversation with the sound guy for the night. These two girls came out, and were really put off by Jackson. He refused to take pictures with them, and that was all they wanted. Not an autograph or anything, just a quick snap. Anyway, I understand that Jackson may feel like a spectacle, but in essence, he chose to be an actor, and a musician. You will always be in the spotlight, and the true test of one’s character is how you handle yourself in a stressful situation.

Valerie Bryant said:I attended the DC show last night, too. The entire band said their manager would not allow them to have pictures taken with them. Ben G even went so far as to mention that they wouldn’t have a problem with photos, but their manager would. But the fact that guys even came out to sign autographs for every single person (without charging anything extra), and took at least a few moments to speak with each fan is really more than anyone could have asked for. Besides, you can take pictures throughout the ENTIRE show. I thought they (including Jackson) were extremely receptive to compliments and appreciative of them (rather than expecting them).
