Thanks so much to Lindsay of Hollywood Crush for informing us about the revealing and exclusive interview with the lead female of ‘Girlfriend’!

GirlfriendWith 13 weeks until “New Moon” hits theaters, Jackson Rathbone has plenty to keep him busy. Beyond work on “Eclipse” and “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” Jackson is starring in and producing the 2010 film “Girlfriend.” Hollywood Crush was lucky enough to speak with Shannon Woodward, who was just cast as the film’s titular girlfriend. Shannon will be playing Candy, the former high school sweetheart of Jackson’s character.Below, check out our exclusive Q&A with the actress, 24, who you probably know best from last year’s horror flick “The Haunting of Molly Hartley” and the 2007-08 F/X series “The Riches” (she played Minnie Driver and Eddie Izzard’s expert pick-pocketing daughter). Don’t worry, we asked her the most important question: Is she ready to take on some of that “Twilight” fan base that already follows her costar? Keep reading to find out!

HOLLYWOOD CRUSH: Tell me a bit about “Girlfriend” — what is your character like?

SHANNON WOODWARD: “Girlfriend” is kind of like a strange love story, but with several different people involved. I think my character is kind of a troubled, incredibly young mother who has very different and, at some points, very strained and strange relationships with several different people, like romantic relationships.

How would you categorize the film? Would you call it a romance?

No. its like a very strange, dark, indie drama. I wouldn’t call it a love story, but there are certainly love stories involved. I think that they’re all love stories in different characters eyes, but its kind of a tragedy.

What do you think about the reveal of Jackson’s newest co-star?

I don’t know what to think of her, I’ve never seen any of her work so, I can’t pass judgement. As for the movie “Girlfriend”, I’ll think I’ll wait until a movie trailer for “Girlfriend” passes to see if I’ll go see the movie or not. :)

sounds awesome . I cant wait to see the movie. Im so curious lol

Comment by Jasperine on Aug. 26, 2009

Oh I like dark and spooky movies! Duno what to think about the girl…

Comment by Miranda on Aug. 26, 2009

Dunno what to think of her really, i’m sure she’s been seen hanging round with Robert Pattinson at some point, and apparently she sings and plays guitar. Not seen her acting before so i’ll wait till I see the movie to pass judgement on her ability, until then this interview makes her seem a bit up herself, like she does want to jump on the Twilight bandwagon.

Comment by Scooby Lady on Aug. 26, 2009

Miranda, it is wrong to make judgements like that. She is going to have jump on the Twilight bandwagon anyway, even if she has or wants nothing to do with it. If she likes Twilight, that’s okay, if she doesn’t that’s okay too. It isn’t her fault that someone is going to associate her with working with someone who worked on Twilight, just because some journalist(s) asks her ” How does it feel to work with someone from Twilight?” I’m starting to get annoyed with thises journalists, the Twilight series isn’t the only thing that Jackson has worked on, they should praise his other works as well.
