MTV posted an interview with Jackson’s future Last Airbender co-star, Jesse McCartney, and he mentions Jackson a bit in the interview. Here’s what he had to say.
McCartney is also looking forward to working with Rathbone — who will also be filming “New Moon” this year — on the movie. “He was there for the reading and he and I have been in training together. We’re flying in a few weeks to start production and then to Greenland to start filming. He’s a super nice guy. We’ve been getting along great.”
As for any musical collaboration between the two, McCartney assures us that they’ll have plenty of time to mull that over as they film the movie. “We haven’t talked about that yet,” he said. “I’m sure I’ll get to know all of this about him.”
Fox Home Entertainment and MGM Home Entertainment have announced that guests from S. DARKO, the sequel to the genre-blending cult favorite DONNIE DARKO, will be attending the New York City Comic-Con, being held Friday-Sunday, February 6-8, at the Jacob Javits Center (11th Avenue between 34th and 39th Streets). With that news comes word of a DVD street date for the movie.
S. DARKO, which was directed by NIGHTSTALKER’s Chris Fisher, will hit disc April 28, and its trailer will premiere at the Comic-Con, where cast and crew (specific names to be announced) will take part in a Q&A. THE RING’s Daveigh Chase returns in the Nathan Atkins-scripted film as Donnie’s little sister Samantha Darko, who sets out with her best friend Corey (from FEAR ITSELF’s NEW YEARS DAY episode and the upcoming SORORITY ROW) on a road trip to Los Angeles that turns strange and hallucinatory. TWILIGHT’s Jackson Rathbone, 100 FEET’s Ed Westwick, James Lafferty, Matthew Davis and Elizabeth Berkley co-star. S. DARKO’s official website can be found here; look for more details on the DVD as we get ’em.
A quick little introduction, my name is Lydia and I’m handling the reviews for 100 Monkeys here on Jackson-Rathbone.com. I have been reviewing for a few weeks now and was invited to continue in a more active role with the site. So, my many thanks to the staff at Jackson-Rathbone.com for bringing me in.
100 Monkeys’ line-up:
Jackson Rathbone: Vocals, lead guitar, keyboards, harmonica, bass and wild dance master.
Ben Graupner: Bass, vocals, guitar, keyboards and random screaming.
Ben Johnson: Drums, back-up vocals
Jerad Anderson: Guitar, back-up vocals, keyboards and general monkey mayhem.
Shan Markosyan: Guitar
“Uncle Larry”: bongos, keyboards, and distinctive flavor
A couple of notes about 100 Monkeys newest member, Jerad Anderson:
Jerad grew up in San Diego, California, where he initially began a career as a competitive level gymnast, and indulged in any extreme sport he could find. He also laughingly admits to being a bit of a computer nerd
We now have an amazing and gorgeous shoot of Jackson the gallery. Check em out! This is by far my favorite shoot of his! And our usual 100 Monkeys reviewer will be posting her review later today, so be on the look out for it.
Also, do not forget, we’re still taking in apps for those who are interested in becoming site staff for the site! We’ve recieved a fair amount of people interested already, but we’d still love more!
Unfortunately, our 100 Monkeys reviewer, Lydia, was unable to attend this week’s show. But she’ll hopefully be attending their gig on the 27th, so watch out for a review from her then! Thanks to the awesome team over at Ben Graupner Fans, we now have some stellar images of the 100 Monkeys from the January 16th show at the mint and 20th show at their usual spot, 24K. You can check ‘em out in the gallery.
Also, thanks to Carolina and KittyTrio for their videos from the show on the 20th! You can watch them below! Gotta love Jerad and Jackson playing one guitar together! You can find the other 2 videos after the cut.
And as always, if you attended any past shows and have pictures/videos from your experience, we’d love to see/hear what you thought about it!
DreadCentral.Com has posted their Dread set visit preview on to their site. There isn’t really any mention of Jackson, but his co-star Shaun Evans gets interviewed a bit. Here’s a small portion of it and you can read the rest at the site.
We caught up with the production on set in Egham, Surrey, on the penultimate day of shooting, where the mood in the camp was buoyant. “I’ve really enjoyed it, it’s like nothing I’ve ever done before,” enthuses Shaun Evans who plays the role of Quaid. “I love horror pictures, so it was brilliant to be pulling an axe out of somebody and blood flying everywhere. I fucking love that shit!”
“We’re having such a good time shooting here, it’s great,” agrees producer Joe Daley who’s been instrumental in bringing Barker’s dark, erotic tales to the big screen. “Matador, whom we’re partners with on this project, are based here so that’s why we’re in the UK. It’s worked out well. The talent pool is amazing, and even though we’re setting Dread in the US, it makes sense that we’re shooting here because that’s where the stories were written. Clive’s from Liverpool, and it just feels we’re bringing it where it should be.”
Also, we’ve recieved a good amount of people interested in becoming site staff. Thanks to everyone who submitted something so far, we won’t be choosing people until next week, so if you’re still interested, you can still submit your app!
Finally, if you’re a fan of Ben Graupner, check out Ben Graupner Fans on myspace and add them today! They will be posting an interview with Ben on their page soon, so be out on the look for that!
First, here’s some footage from the January 16th gig at The Mint. Thanks to CineCrazy and KittyTrio for their youtube videos!
Thanks to the great Mandolinaes, we now have HQish captures from the past few videos of Jackson from MTV. The diary and pop male captures will be replaced with HQs soon.
Also, I meant to post this earlier, but thanks to the awesome team over at Touched By Twilight for making Jackson Rathbone Online their site of the month for January! You can check out the nifty award they gave us here.
Finally, we are now starting to look for more people to bring on board for the JR Online team. If you’re interested, click the image below to take you to the page.
For anyone who was planning on going to the Long Beach show Sunday, unfortunately it has been canceled. The gig has been removed from the band’s myspace and this article was just posted (ignore the writer calling Jackson “Jason”)
“Twilight” star Jackson Rathbone, who was set to appear with his rock band side project 100 Monkeys at 8 p.m. Sunday at diPiazza’s Restaurant & Lounge, cancelled the show Friday morning to fly out of state to work on an episode of “Criminal Minds.”
The 100 Monkeys show in Long Beach was to have been Rathbone’s only all-ages concerts in the Long Beach-L.A. area, and diPiazza’s was inundated with calls Thursday after the announcement of the concert was publicized on the band’s MySpace page and fan sites.
Rathbone, who plays Jasper Hale in “Twilight,” is especially popular among the teenage girl set. According to a spokesperson for the actor, Rathbone and his improv band will play an all-ages show at diPiazza’s in early or mid-March.
Here’s some new regarding the Salute To Twilight convention in San Fran (which I’ll be attending!)

JACKSON RATHBONE PRIVATE LUNCH!
Private Lunch on Sunday February 22, 2009
And finally, another article from MTV. This time Jackson talks about “The Last Airbender”. Congrats to Jackson for snagging the role!
“Twilight” star Jackson Rathbone is a busy guy these days, between getting ready to film “New Moon” in March and a side gig as lead singer/ keyboardist/ guitarist/ bass player/ everything else for his band 100 Monkeys.
Nevertheless, the fast-rising actor/musician is still finding time to catch some air.
“I’m focusing mostly on music and another movie I have coming up,” the 24-year-old actor told us about the high-profile gig he recently landed after one of Hollywood’s most iconic directors recruited him. “We’re going to be working on ‘The Last Airbender’ with M. Night Shyamalan, so that’s very exciting.”
