First and foremost, Shock Til You Drop first posted an article with Jackson where he speaks out and defends S. Darko which you can read here. Be warned though, a few uh… hardcore fans are being slightly rude in comments. Secondly, they published another article about their visit to the Dread set in London. Thankfully for us, this is just a set visit preview with more on the way! Along with this, they released a couple of kickass production stills from the movie and surprise, surprise one (or rather two… maybe) of Mr. Stephen Grace have been released. Here’s the article.. well just what Jackson Says:

“We’re definitely not making ‘I Know What You Did 3 Summers Go’ or anything like that,” Rathbone adds. “When you get down to it, we all feel dread and we all have reasons for what inspired it. That’s what we’re trying to get to the root of in this film. The imagery in this film is haunting, stuff that’s made a lot of people sick.”

And here’s the pictures! Still not too sure about the first still being him, but after reading the story, it’s a possibility.

Huge thanks to one of our LJ members, Brigitte, for the awesome scan of Jackson in AP Magazine! I’ve typed up the article below and the scan is now in the gallery. Along with that, caps from this week’s Twilight Tuesday and a new Jasper shirt from Hot Topic.

Even though you probably wouldn’t mind Jackson Rathbone sucking on your neck, he (unfortunately) plays a politically correct vampire who refuses to feast on human blood in this month’s much-hyped film version of Twilight based on Stephenie Meyer’s novels about love between mortals and the undead. We guess we’ll just have to learn to appreciate Rathbone for his acting chops and musical skills, instead.

Tell us about your character in Twilight.
I play Jasper Hale, a vampire who has joined the group called the Cullens, who have agreed to not eat humans anymore due to a certain moral tide that swept over them. They’re kind of like vegetarian vampires.

Did you have any idea how popular the books were when you signed on?
I did not. It was funny. I called my folks and told them I got this part in this movie, and they told my little sister and she flipped out. She’s 13 and she’s read all the books. Then, like, the next day all my cousins e-mailed me from Louisiana. I’m talking about my cousins who are in law school, who are also head-over-heels in love with these books. [Laughs.] So I started getting wind of it.

You also recently finished filming S. Darko, the Donnie Darko sequel. Are you concerned about the backlash from diehards who are upset that Richard Kelly isn’t directing?
Oh yeah. That was kind of one of the first things that worried me when I signed on to do the project. But I read the script and met Chris [Fisher, director[, and he had an amazing vision for it. Honestly, without this movie, the story wouldn't even continue anywhere. Those Donnie Darko diehards will be the hardest to win over, and I hope they at least give it a chance.

We also hear that you play in a band.
[My] band’s called 100 Monkeys. The original idea was just completely, 100 percent improvisational rock ‘n’ roll with a little bit of Ween influence. I personally come from a blues and Southern rock [influence], mostly… We all kind of like that folk sound, but we’re all a little more rock-oriented.

Do you think you’d ever switch your focus more to music than acting?
It depends. I might. But I like to be pure, and music to me is my soul, and I’m not too ready to sell my soul. Acting is like my vocation; it’s something I do for a living. And music is my application; it’s something I do because I love it and if I didn’t do it, I’d probably shrivel up and die.

Jackson will be/is featured in the December issue of AP Magazine (Alternative Press) with Fall Out Boy on the cover. The issue hits newsstands everywhere on November 4th, however I know some stores stock certain issues early so I’ll be hitting up my local bookstore to see if they have the issue out already. Scans from his feature will be added to the site ASAP.

Three updates in one day… I know. With one more on the way, hopefully.

Borders has posted a new behind the scenes footage from the set of Twilight. Thankfully, they even included a clip of the Cullens entering the school cafeteria. You can watch the footage here at the Borders site. The video will be streaming in the Media Center soon, so check there in a few minutes. In the mean time, I capped Jackson’s parts.

Thanks so much to Lauren, she sent in a great story about how she met Jackson at a mutual friend’s birthday party. I’ve posted a small snippet from the story below and adding her pictures to the gallery. Please don’t take these without credit to the site! Also, added a few more pictures from the 100Monkeys myspace.

I attended my friend, Arthur Napiontek’s [pineapple express] birthday party with my best friend. Jackson Rathbone, Ben Graupner, Kellan Lutz[emmett in twilight], Nikki Reed[rosalie in twilight, she apparently showed up later on], some abercrombie models were all there [I felt so out of place! haha], but everyone was super nice. My friend and I talked to Kellan for awhile. He is so sweet and very kind, not bad to look at either.

Anyway, the party was slowly wrapping up and I was like omg I must meet Jackson. [I love twilight btw] And finally Art introduced my friend and I to him. I was so embarrassed, I felt like such a twilight dork and not a real person, ya know? But dont worry I wasn’t like in tears or shaking. Haha. I acted normal although i was like “ahhhhh inside :) ”. So I first shook his hand, then he gave me a hug. We eventually started talking, he bought us drinks. Good thing my best friend talks a lot because I was pretty nervous at first haha.

Read the rest of the story here.

Good news, Jackson will be back in the states to do some little promo work, one of them being at the TwilightLive event in LA. MTV just posted this article which you can read below:

As so many of those who were in New York in early August remember, “TwilightLive” is much more than simply the only live podcasting event for “Twilight” fans. It’s also one heck of a party.

Now, two more big names are coming along for the LA event.

MTV News has confirmed with event organizer Becka Grapsy that actors Jackson Rathbone and Peter Facinelli are the latest names to be added to the list of panelists who will appear live and in the flesh. They join the previously-announced Mike Welch, as well as notable Twilighters from such beloved sites as TwilightSeriesTheories, His Golden Eyes, Twilight Moms and more.

The Los Angeles event is November 16th, just five days before the “Twilight” movie finally hits theaters nationwide. It will take place at Borders Westwood, beginning at 1:30 with a concert by the Twilight Music Girls.

Discussion topics for the panel include “Twilight” news, the evolving fandom, and the films. There will also be trivia contests, prizes, and a canned food drive.

For more information on how you can join the TwilightLive audience in starting the “Twilight” festivities five days early, visit their website. Maybe we’ll even see you there!

And here’s another article about Dread from author Clive Barker’s website:

Principal photography has commenced in the UK on Dread the eagerly-awaited new installment in Clive Barker’s “Books of Blood” franchise, with Anthony Diblasi at the helm, directing from his own screenplay based on Barker’s original short story. Hot new US talent Jackson Rathbone (Twilight, S Darko) heads the cast in Dread which marks the second collaboration between the UK’s Matador Pictures and LA-based Midnight Picture Show.

Joining Jackson Rathbone in the young cast line up are rising British talent Shaun Evans (Being Julia, Telstar, Princess Ka’iulani) and newcomers Hanne Steen and Laura Donnelly.
Dread is a psychological thriller centering on three college students who study other people’s fears. As the study progresses, one of the students begins to seek salvation from his obsession by exploiting the terrors of his fellow participants.

Produced with Cinema Three, the UK based production and financing vehicle set up by Matador Pictures and boutique finance house Regent Capital, Dread will shoot for five weeks on location in London.

Read the rest here.

Finally, the members over at the forum have thought up a neat birthday project idea for Jackson. Information on this will be posted SOON. So check back soon for all the information and what it is.

Looks like Bloody Disgusting got sent another viral campaign… thing. It sounds pretty interesting, here’s what was included in the viral. I’ve also added the flyer that went with it to the gallery. Definitely worth the look.

When you were a child, were you afraid of the darkness under your bed?
How old were you when you had your first nightmare?
Have you ever seen a person die?
Have you ever been harmed by a family member?
What is your strongest memory of feeling fear?

Would you like to be part of our FEAR STUDY?

Cameras have begun rolling in the UK on Dread, the latest story from Clive Barker’s “Books of Blood” being groomed for the big screen.

Joining previously announced cast members Jackson Rathbone (Twilight) and Shaun Evans (Being Julia) are newcomers Hanne Steen (pictured) and Laura Donnelly. They’ll play college students immersed in the study of other people’s fears. As the study progresses, one of the students begins to seek salvation from his obsession by exploiting the terrors of his fellow participants.

Read more at the source.

If you don’t want to read the rest of that article, it mentions a possible on set visit to the film along with a 5 week shoot in the UK. Also, here’s something the director Anthony DiBlasi said about the film recently:

“The story is centred around characters that you encounter in day-to-day life in a world that we live and breathe every day, and that for me is why Dread is one of Clive’s most terrifying tales. It shows you that monsters aren’t always born, sometimes they’re made. And they walk among us and they usually look just like you and me…

“I categorise Dread as a coming-of-age horror/thriller. The main characters are that age when they’re finding their way into adulthood. So I explore a lot of aspects of finding love, finding adventure, finding sex.”
